My Chilli Crab

Cooked this delicious plate of Singapore chilli crab today. In total 3 crabs were used, For photographic purposes, I dished up two for the show.

The crabs were fried in oil first and cooked on both sides about a minute each and removed from the wok. Then the gravy mix was fried till it was fragrant and the crabs rejoined the wok. Water is then added to the crabs and left to simmer for a while before some more chilli powder mix is added and the sauce thickened with corn starch and egg at the end.

The gravy and chilli mix came from a set of pre-mix as its more convenient. Maybe the next time the gravy can be made from scratch allowing for better control. The sauce for this dish is quite sweet without much kick from the chilli. I would have preferred a much spicier sauce personally. Luckily the crabs were fresh and the meat was firm so it's a good final result.

Tomato Bruschetta with Parma Ham

Made this about a couple of months back. Tomato Bruschetta with fetta cheese, tomato, fresh basil and proscuitto (parma ham). Can't find any ingredients at NTUC so went to Tampines 1 cold storage for the stuff. Baguette was from four leaves.

First the baguette was sliced and then a basil leaf place on above as a barrier between the bread and the tomatoes. Then the diced tomatoes were placed on the basil leaf and then a slice of proscuitto curled above the tomatoes. Finally fetta cheese was crumbled across the parma ham and topped off with a little more basil.

It should have been better with a splash of olive oil at the end but I forgot to bring it that day. The taste of the bruschetta was good with the fragrance of the basil blending in perfectly with the tomatoes. Finally the parma ham and the fetta cheese gave it a nice savoury taste with the fetta cheese adding a bit of zing at the end.

Woot. Passed my driving test today.Woke up so early in the morning for the 1st session, lol.

I was so nervous throughout the test, luckily I managed to pull it off. Had no trouble in the circuit but a little hiccup on the road. Thankfully still under the cut-off requirement to pass.

Anyway it's very important to drive safely on the road. It's better to be late than never arrive at your destination.

New toy

Bought this last week at Excelsior shopping centre, a Fender Squier Affinity electric guitar and a 10w amp. Plays pretty well, the guitar has been set up at the shop and the action was just right, much better than the Yamaha C-40 classical guitar lol.

A 10w amp is sufficient for practising with the guitar for now, however in time to come I hope to get a better amp and an effects pedal. That would totally rock.

Changi Coastal Park Connector

Last Monday I went on a cycling trip. after reading the Sunday Times I decided to test out the route. I set off from my home at Simei then to Pasir Ris and down to Changi Village to Changi Beach.

Reached Changi Beach. There was a drizzle so I took a break at the shelter.

Time to set off again.

Changi Beach Park was quite cooling and it had nice tree coverage.

After frying the fish, I still had quite a bit of egg left. So didn't waste the egg and made an unhealthy french toast. The type can find in Hongkong cafe 1. Inside got peanut butter somemore. Taste is wonderful. Maybe can mass produce during some party next time.

Went on a trip to KL during my birthday, warning: a lot of pictures.

Its advertised as the largest food court, it spans the entire 10th floor. But the food ain't that great and also not as many stalls as expected, just that there are many seats available.

Leisure World Day Trip

Went on the notorious gambling ship Leisure World off Indonesia somewhere in international waters today. I reached Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal at 9 and left at 10am. Had to switch ferries off at Batam before heading towards the ship. Tickets cost $40 per passenger for 2-way trip.

At the restaurant, everything buffet style, eat as much as you like.

Headed out for some fresh air outside casino.

At the top deck bar, watching the employees of the ship playing sepak takraw on their off-shift.

Some guy called Small Blackie literally in Mandarin, and the poster says he is the original singer of "一人一半".

Spot the familiar Singaporean face on this poster.

Back in the ferry on the way back. Looks and feels the same as the penguin express ferries that I took during BMT days to and from Pulau Tekong.

I had 大闸蟹 (hairy crab) for dinner tonight! 清蒸. The roe and meat tastes richer than normal crabs. However the amount of meat is not much. Here's a couple of pics.

Shishamo Tempura

My mom bought a pack of frozen shisamo (capelin with roe) recently. She hadn't had the time to cook them so I decided to do it. I got a pack of tempura powder from Eastpoint NTUC yesterday to prepare for today's quest. After an hour or so, the results were out:

It was quite simple to whip up the dish. First I defrosted the fish, gave them a wash and a rinse. Next I coated them with a layer of flour, then a layer of egg wash and finally the tempura batter. The oil was first heated up and the fire was turned down to medium-low. Then the fish were fried till the batter was golden brown.

Then, I remembered I had some Japanese soy sauce in the fridge and used it as a dipping sauce for the tempura. They tasted good!

Saw some amazing coin stacking towers few days ago and decided to try them myself. I did a simple 1 out of 5 cent coins, I didn't realise coin stacking could be an art. lol.

Then I tried another variation:

That's about all the 5 cent coins I have been keeping in a bottle for some time. I have more of 1 cent coins but they seem too small for handling though.

Few weeks ago I came across a post from ikeahacker about using a store-bought stool from ikea and modifying it for another use, and in this case from a stool to a laptop desk.

I found it to be pretty useful so I got my own Benjamin stool from Ikea Tampines last thursday. Finally got a bit of time to spare today and started on it. I made the legs go up a little higher. Here's the result:

Fits a laptop perfectly! I'm pretty satisfied with it. Now to get on with rounding off the edges of the legs.

Here's my list of Discovery Channel shows that I watch regularly, ranked in order of preference.

1. Mythbusters

I have caught this show since season 1. Have been loving it since.

2. Man vs Wild

This new show hosted by Bear Grylls brings on adventure in a reality TV style, and shows how to survive in difference locations around the world. Currently the show is in the 2nd season.

3. American Chopper

I like the cool designs that they come up with and some of the antics the Teutel family comes up with sometimes. I also particularly like the dedication of the OCC crew to their job.

4. Deadliest Catch

I have been watching this show since season 1 and I have successfully recommended this show to a few others. The show is now in the 3rd season, and is definitely much more integrated to the viewer screen, with much more analysis, coverage and new camera equipment to show the lives of the Bering Sea fishermen.

I noticed this was the lead actress from Hana Yori Dango. Her acting ability is not bad, and I think this should be a pretty good drama. The character that she plays has an uncurable disease, where she returns to Japan after being in America for 10 years. She had her first kiss taken accidently by her brother and her brother promised her that he would find her a true first kiss and love.

2. Papa to Musume no Nanokakan

This drama stars Aragaki Yui, her previous works include Galcir and My Boss, My Hero. This will be a comedy as the story is about a girl and her dad exchanging bodies.

3. Hotaru no Hikari

Ayase Haruka left an impression on me when she played the role of Aki, in Sekai no chuushin de, ai wo sakebu. This time around she plays an office lady who sleeps at home rather than finding love. But due to unexpected circumstances, she begins to live with her boss and falls in love with a young man.

4. Hanazakari no Kimitachi e (Hana Kimi)

This drama was shown in a Taiwanese adaption of the popular manga this year starring Wu Zun and Ella. Now it has its own Japanese version! The two leads I know of are Oguri Shun, who played Hanazawa Rui in Hana Yori Dango and Horikita Maki, who acted in Nobuta wo Produce and Kurosagi. This 1 should be a nice drama.

Next week will be the 10th episode of Proposal Daisakusen starring Yamashita Tomohisa and Nagasawa Masami. I'm sure that it will be a happy ending but we gotta wait for 2 whole weeks to reach the end of the japanese spring drama season.

Its really interesting when you think if you could have a second chance to mend things like in the drama, to undo things you would have regretted doing or not doing. But in a way after watching the drama I believe that in reality we have cherish every present moment and make every action count, as it is a link in the chain of events leading to a future result, or a destination.

Eating Fried Starfish

China does it again. These starfish are non-poisonous and street vendors in Beijing, China are selling them as a fried snack.. omg. I wonder how it tastes, although I would not want to try it myself. And they are promoting to tourists as a delicacy too, besides their usual fare of fried insects such as ants, beetles, crickets and other creepy crawlies.

Usual fare? Yup, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. Fried scorpions anyone?

Benjamin Graham is one of those whom Warren Buffett, the second richest man in the world regards as his master. Another whom Buffett learnt from was from Philip Fisher, author of "Common Stocks, Uncommon profits".

2nd book is by Peter Lynch who also authored another book titled "Beating The Street". This book is also one of those recommended for those who want learn more about stocks and investing.

I believe this would be a good way to start.

It started off a couple of months ago at a bookfair and I saw this book. I have heard of the famous "Rich Dad Poor Dad" book but I have not read it before. Instead this title from the same author caught my eye.

It gave me a good insight and a introduction to the importance of personal finance. Personal finance can be considered as one of the pillars of being able to enjoy life. The ultimate goal of course is to have financial freedom, where your passive income is more than your expenses and debt instalments.

Few days ago I started to read this book called "Growing Your Tree of Prosperity". This book gave a good guide to managing personal finance and investments to enable one to have financial freedom. What is different from the Rich dad book is that this book is in Singapore context, and is written by an IT professional, which makes it more so related to my path as is can better relate it from my point of view I guess. Then today I got this book, "Secrets of Self-Made Millionaires" which is also in Singapore context. This book is pretty interesting and I think I will learn alot from it. I will definitely need to learn more to make my financial pillar stable. Everyone's goal is to enjoy life. So I guess its better to start late than never.

Takuya Kimura is Back

Takuya Kimura is back with Karei-Naru Ichizoku. The story is from a novel and the time is set in the 1970's about Manpyo Teppei (played by Takuya Kimura) as the executive managing director of a steel company. Interesting drama for me at least. Scored a 27.7% viewership in Japan during its broadcast, thats a pretty good number. I don't think it attracted the younger population though, I think its more for adults, but anyway I was interested in how Teppei accomplished his goals, so I'm gonna continue watching.

Goong S starts

Goong S has started broadcasting on 10/01/2007 on Korea MBC Channel. The story is not a continuation of the original Goong. However Goong 2 by the original cast, Yoon Eun Hye and Joo Ji Hoon is said to be going to air in September 2007 ^^. They are good at making stars out of unknown actors just like they did in Goong. Lets hope Goong S will be up to expectations too.

Back to Goong S. The main story revolves around a delivery boy(Se7en) who did not know he was a prince.. and then the story goes on like that. Heard that Mediacorp now has some partnership with MBC and so we hope this series will show in Singapore soon. Anyway if you can't wait you might want to buy VCD to catch it before everyone does, or any other sources, lol.

Just started watching a new drama today. 1st episode was aired in Taiwan on Sunday 07/01/07.. Title is 转角遇到爱. The two main leads are Xiao Zhu (Show Luo) and Da S. Xiao Zhu plays an artist who got scammed in Shanghai and had to work in a food shop as a chef who makes delicious fried oysters. Da S comes from a rich family. Both of them have big egos and happen to meet each other in a series of encounters that lead up to their romance.

Singer Bada now has a "Music child prodigy" alternative nickname. In the MV of single "GoGoGo" released not long ago "Although I'm Short" is in actual fact a song she composed at the age of 10.

Although widely known that Bada has been a great singer since a young age, nobody knew that at such a innocent and naive age she has the ability to compose songs.

A subtle melody and lyrics with feelings, together with Bada's slender-quality tiny voice's nobody would have dared to think it came from a 10-year old girl. Therefore went to meet Bada, to find out the story of "Although I'm Short" and how it came about.

"Child Music Prodigy?"

The mention of it makes Bada, who usually likes to laugh, burst into laughter, using her slender fingers to conceal her little face.

"Are you unhappy about the new nickname?"

"No. 'Child music prodigy'? You flatter me. When I was little and my dad's health was not good, we had to travel to the countryside for his treatments. As the countryside was too remote, only the neighbouring village had a postal box. To reach to the neighbouring village I had to walk through a winding road that was full of acacia trees. So I felt bored, and hummed a couple of lines, and there came about 'Although I'm Short'. In my mouth I held an acacia flower and sang about what a kind of person I would want to be when I grow up."

What's surprising is that 'Although I'm Short' is not a composition that was composed with notes on a music score. It was through humming and coincidently evolved to be a song. Throughout the 17 years she has seemingly sung it every day, therefore she does not even know herself when it had evolved into a complete song.

Bada, who turned into a professional singer, in the 9 years after her professional debut, inserted this song 'Although I'm Short', a Road-Movie style form of MV production into her MV, Bada's pure attraction, 'full of white sugar, coffee cafe' and 'Although I'm Short' song has attracted listener's attention, and wanted to know the meaning within.

"full of white sugar, cafe coffee, what does that mean?"

"ah... ha ha ha." Bada's hearty laughter came across again.
"The director of the MV this time told me 'Everything is up to you. Bring out everything that you can say and express them out.' The director had a look at all 50 different types of lines. In the beginning didn't know what they were for. After that then I understood they were to be inserted into the MV. I like the coffee in the cafe. Full of white sugar( Bada laughs). 'Although I'm Short' is also because it is of very even higher importance to me, thats why it was sung."

"What made you insert it into the MV?"

" 'Although I'm Short' has brought me the hope of 'what kind of a person I want to be' and the strength of 'in times of difficulty also have to perservere' a kind of song. After I started as a professional singer, everytime when I'm faced with difficulty I would still continue to sing this song. Everytime I sing this song, I would think of the past. Because of my dad's poor health, it was also a period that was most difficult for me. Therefore everytime I sang this song I would think 'even that most difficult time I have beared past, after being a singer why do I even have to think now is difficult.' And also I am determined to motivate the young people now who are like me, therefore it is also accomplished one of my greatest wishes(laughs)."

Not only that, the song also contains Bada's main reason of wanting to be a singer.
Since she was young, Bada had hoped to use her voice to help people. And because of that, she is able to continue on, and wants to bring her hopes and dreams to everyone in the future with her songs in the future.

"Now my friends often call me and asks 'Sung Hee(Bada's real name) ya, sing me a song.' They said my song specially sung to them gave them a form of solace. Come to think of it, this is the role I have been playing since I was little. It can also be considered as a reason why I wanted to be a singer. I've always wished my voice would provide those who listened to my songs a form of encouragement, and I would feel catharsis."

Although its a pity that "Although I'm Short" did not find its way into the current single album, but after listening to Bada, would think of giving Bada a call when I'm having difficulty in the future. And Bada would joke and tell to listen to the new single instead.

"This single was of no burden for both the company and me (laughs). Concept? Its just 'Bada'. Under the restrictions of not being too unconserved, to think of enjoying freedom, and has allowed for my own development. I am able to express myself freely in the MV, song and stage, without any restrictions.
Also, I do not consider myself as an artiste, so as to bring forth any message, it will be to shout at the same direction with everyone. Its just because I am a singer, therefore I am using my song to shout. And hence it has provided more freedom in the form of expression."

Bada, with her new single 'GoGoGo' is making a comeback to the performing stage. Thinking of carrying freedom in the song and bringing relieve to people, to Bada, to myself, and to everyone who are seriously carrying on with life to shout 'Fighting'.

Bada went to Shanghai in September to participate in the F1 Shanghai Korean wave event. After her performance the press described Bada as the best singer in Korea.. It was a great boost to her popularity in China after the event and the reports that followed. Bada is also going to receive the best female dancer award from the annual Seoul Performing Arts Award Ceremony on 31st October and the award is going to be presented by the president of South Korea, what an honour!

Currently Bada is working on a single album which is going to be released on 10th November. This single album as Bada had said, is going to be a present to her fans for their love and support over the years. It is also going to be an album that will enter Bada into the Chinese market. Bada Fighting!

Bada held her 1st ever solo concert on 29th July 2006 at the COEX Convention Hall in Seoul, South Korea. Definitely a milestone and a record card for her achievements.
The concert is a musical style concert. She had many costume changes during the concert but I think only this part of the concert was allowed to be published by the press.

Recently got caught up by Jdrama storm. So many new dramas come up recently.
Watched finish Nobuta wo Produce already. Then realised Horikita Maki and Yamapi is acting in Kurosagi... 1st episode just aired few weeks ago. The plot is is about a man who's lost his family due to a swindler, and he becomes a swindler who hunts down such swindlers by swindling them(white swindlers who cheat money, red swindlers who use love to cheat money). The many ways he is able to fool the swindlers is the main appeal for this drama(And also Horikita Maki~). Episode 3 just released today.

Another must watch is Akai Kiseki, 1st episode just started broadcast few weeks ago. The main lead is Kyoko Fukada, after so many years she become more chio liao. I remember last jdrama i watch was her with domoto the boxing show... quite plump that time, but now she's noticeably slimmer and added more points in beauty.. woot.

Some other drama watching now is galsa(Gal circle), story plot quite thin, I think the appeal is the young shibuuya gals the actress are playing. Next is Fugoh Keiji 2, also starring Kyoko Fukada. I didn't watch part 1 though, but basically the story is about a rich gal who is a detective. Another two are Delicious Proposal which is about cooking and Shimokita Glory Days about a guy and a concept called Nutopia.

Byakuyakou and sekai no chuushin are two of the good japanese dramas i have watched. And byakuyakou's theme song is really nice. 2nd house is a crazy jdrama though. April 14 jdrama kurosaki on TBS broadcast. One of the female actress is Horikita Maki, who played densha otoko's sis in densha otoko. She won awards from the drama Nobuta wo Produce, which I'm gonna watch pretty soon.

Finally got my sch stuffs & enrolment settled. Now studying at TMC under Monash University... dun think will go to Australia to do any modules though. Enrolled in the course of Bachelor of Information Technology and Systems, business systems major..... which is the business side of IT... wonder what a guy with engineering diploma and a degree in business IT can do in the future. It was Saturday 5am January 14th, before sunrise. The tide was scheduled to start coming in at 5:15am and reach its peak at 10:15am. The first haul was 2 tambans just before sunrise, didn't catch big tambans though, the pro uncles were hauling in the big ones, but the small and mediums one were cool, can be used as bait for the next fishing trip maybe catch sotong or some big fish. Left the jetty about 10:40am.

The piece of artwork is done together with the final touches. All that is well seems to end well for now. A chapter in my life has finally ended. Acknowledged a past acquaintance today. Technology will be the destruction of humans. Not only it has made life easier for humans, it has some serious reverse repercussions. It has made the human body more fragile and less rugged, and the futher generations will be born with weaker immune systems, imagine coming into the world and being given a vaccine shot for 10,000,00 known viruses in the first week the average human baby is born. This has caused a reverse evolution where it is going downhill from now. Evolution is what makes species survive in the ever-changing world. With technology, humans are trying to change the environment to suit them. Universe > human technology = Losing Battle. Technology has marked the end of human evolution to be able to evolve to the next advanced species.

Lets take a simple example: Bird flu.

Everyone knows bird flu can kill. If there was bird flu outbreak in a non-technology world, it will wipe out many humans, however those that survive will carry the anti-bird flu system in them which they will pass on to further generations. It may sound cruel, but that is the only way humans can be able to evolve to survive diseases, and those that can't survive are dead.

Lets take a look at the world today. The vaccines given are synthetic and may or may not be passed on to the next generation. So every time a new vaccine is developed, it will be added into a list for example. Over time this list gets longer and longer and longer, imagine future generations have to take so many vaccines for so many new diseases, there will be no end.

Technology is a double-edged sword. However it does some long term damage for short term benefits, if you put your sights longer in astronomical years.

This typhoon left as quickly as it came. Overlooking Taipei's Xi Men Ding from my hotel... there's no rain and the weather is cool and breezy. People are walking and shopping like usual. According to news, much of Taipei isn't really affected by the typhoon drastically, it just brought some strong winds and rain in the area. The harder hit areas were in Hua Lian and Yi Lan, east of Taiwan. Now waiting to go down for dinner... dunno what to eat.. so many choices.
Should have brought my thumb drive so I could upload some pics here. But nevermind.. I will upload pics and videos when I return.
Tomorrow will be visiting One of the memorial halls, dunno which.. thats the fun of free & easy, everything is so flexible. I think I'll head down the streets and have a walk while deciding what to eat.. heh.

Concert by the Bay started right after the fireworks.
There was Dong Jin Yue Tuan, Zhi Ran Juan, Yu Heng, Emil Chou and last but not least, Wu Yue Tian!!!

Definitely they were the highlight of the concert! bringing the cold crowd to an abrupt high. And they announced that their concert in Singapore has been confirmed! It's going to be held in December w00t!

I'm currently watching Jue Dui Superstar on Channel U. My thoughts are that the quality of singers is much better than the ones in Singapore Idol. Its quite surprising to see that a competition with 4000 contestants could actually produce a better finalist cohort than one with 5000. Its time for the Sg-Idol craze to step down and welcome the next heir of music competitions - Jue Dui Superstar!

The fact that the judges in Jue Dui Superstar had higher standards and had more emotions made the audience feel "closer" to the judges. One instance was that during the preliminaries, the judges were trying so hard not to make the contestants feel bad they actually asked a contestant who didn't do so well out of the judging room and "pretended" to discuss whether or not to let her through, but in fact they were trying their best to formulate a way how to make the contestant feel the least heartbroken when the truth is made known to them. This concept actually makes the audience feel that the judges were actually going for quality and yet encouraging more participation if there were future seasons of this competition.

On the contrary, Sg-Idol revolved around a totally different concept. It was meant
to show the worst side of contestants and make people laugh at the lewd comments from the judges to the contestants. The editing was made to rouse controversy and even brought back failed contestants just to juice a final drop of laughter from the audience and crack a joke on contestants who simply wanted to be on TV and a shot at overnight fame.

The stars from Jue Dui Superstar will definitely outshine the contestants/winner(s) from Sg-Idol and definitely bring a fresh new wave into the reaches of Asian Pop and do Singapore proud!

Looking at the way the two competitions go I can come to a conclusion that in terms of quality, Singapore Idol will continue to attract more people who want to get famous for being clowns, and Jue Dui Superstar's contestant standard will continue to get better as it goes along and it is certain that there will be contestants from previous seasons willing to improve themselves and going for another shot.

Well.. haha its just $8 from PC show 2005 at Singapore Expo. The one and only thing I bought at the 15-year old event. Before that, had a friend who wanted to buy a keyboard... branded one, but in the end I was the one ended up buying one and him without. The design looks good and it provides a few nifty functions at the top like any top end keyboard. For a mere $8 you can buy 8 of these keyboards instead of a Micro$*** one that costs $69(well there's a mouse included for the M$ 1 but just trying to show how cheap it is). A single digit cost for this keyboard was simply irresistable. And so I ended up going home with it.

LoL. I didn't know what made me do it. I saw on zhou ri ba dian dang(shi zi lu kou) in one of the episodes the farmer just grabbed and pulled the ostrich head and it will just fall the head to your shoulders and be subdued. No matter how hard I tried(I didn't grab too hard scare it turn around and kicked me through the barrier), it wouldn't budge so I settled for this pose... hahahaha. This was taken on the morning of departure from my vacation spot. It was taken during sunrise. I like the way the poles holding up the kelong were leading out into the sea. It provides a nice angle out to horizon. I wished I had a Camera with a better memory capacity so I could take many high resolution and also a tripod so the pictures all would turn out not as blurry. I removed alot of pictures already due to my unsteady hand. In total I had taken about 150 pictures but only decided to post about 60 pictures which were decent enough.

Was walking my normal route from omega gate to squadron today. Say long not long, say short also not that short(I meant the distance). Along the slope up the jackfruits were so ripe you could almost smell their fragrance wafting through the early morning mist. And they were beautiful, having a perfect light green hue on their finely textured skin.

As I was walking along the slope up just before the bungalow area, I happened to notice an eagle just taking flight. I wished I had a digital camera on me, or I would have snapped the shot, like some professional discovery or animal planet photographer haha. But firstly cameras weren't allowed in the base and secondly I wouldn't bring a camera wherever I went anyway. However, every few metres the bird flown it would shoot out a bunch of feathers, it shot out bunches of feathers for about 4 or 5 times at a spacing of every few metres, before disappearing above the trees out of sight. As for the feathers, they just dropped down like, well feathers, floating like the feather in Forrest Gump, lol. Well one of the feathers happened to drop just in front of me and since I will never have a picture of the bird, might as well keep the feather as a memory. It wasn't any bird feather mind you, its the feather of an eagle! Heh. Here's the feather I picked up.

Well later in the day, looking out the window from the classroom, saw an unusual sight. Instead of a bunch of mynahs(the mynahs were somewhere else), there was a kingfisher perched along a metal rod across the drain. As graceful as it was, it doved down into the drain for a quick cleansing and darted back up to shake off the moisture from its feathers while perioodically swinging its tail feathers left and right. It was blue in colour with a broad white ring across its neck. A strong thick beak to catch fishes is one of the main unique features of a kingfisher. Kingfishers possess wonderfully sculptured and streamlined bodies made for speed. It was a wonderful sight, but yet again no camera. One of these days I'm going to a nature reserve and take all the pictures I want. Just trying to admire the nature that surrounds us that we either take for granted or overlook while fulfilling our daily routines.

Its been like 33 degrees centigrade for the past month. I wonder when will the heavens take pity on us tropical dwellers and decrease the temperature by a few degrees just so that we can go on about our routines more comfortably.

Speaking of the reduction of temperatures, I can recall few weeks ago I was reading a forum discussion about some super volcanoes erupting and like they're due to erupt like.... er.. soon.

There's one in Lake Toba, or rather the one that holds Lake Toba, and another in New Zealand, together with a chain across the tectonic fault line. If they were to erupt, I would believe the whole chain would either erupt together, or erupt in a chain reaction. This would be catastrophic. Although there is little we could do about it, I could not help but imagine a few scenarios after we are eventually wiped out either by the above scenario or by another of the same magnitude. This could eventually bring Earth back to the age of the Big Bang, and thinking about it, so many billions of years have passed, nobody knows exactly how many times disasters of such an extent had happened.

Think of it this way: if we were not sure how many times it has happened, we can't be sure how many waves of organisms have been living in Earth before us. There could be super intelligent beings living before us and had the chance to evolve to a much higher intelligence as us before they were wiped out. Such organisms might also have evolved to a stage where they did not need the Earth anymore and moved off into the vast universe. On the contrary, there could also be organisms who were not given enough time for much evolution and were wiped out even before they could achieve minimum intelligence, they could have just evolved basic instinct. As I understand in my own way. Intelligence evolves from instinct, which is the most basic form of intelligence. It just takes time to evolve.

Back to the topic. It could have just so happened the dinosaurs were not given enough time to evolve to a stage of intelligence. And also the disaster(the castrophy that killed them), was not great enough to wipe out all the species from the Earth, so some survived. Those organisms that survive then, do have a chance to continue their evolution to achieve higher intelligence, be it plants or animals(provided they survive). So for each and every living existence they do not start at the same time, all of them are at a different stage of evolution.

As for humans, from whatever that we evolved from, I can be sure that we were given enough time to evolve to achieve to such a high state of intelligence for the species and eventually dominate the planet. And the future is that if there is no disaster that completely wipes out the human race, humans still have a chance to achieve an even higher state of intelligence and eventually dominate the universe, however it is a massive amount of time in relation with the average lifespan of a human being.

So the fate of humans lies in the hands of the forces of the universe. My thesis is that the aliens that were reported to be seen around the world could be organisms that may have previously lived in Earth(or other planets) and evolved to a very high state of intelligence without being wiped out and came back to survey the planet they came from recorded in their history. Or if they didn't come from Earth, they could have just came and wanted to see if the planet was suitable to be inhabitated by their species.

The universe is so big. The possibilities is endless. Let your mind free and explore beyond the boundaries.

Long live humans. Or maybe?

*shrug*. I can't remember anything interesting I did today, it just went by in a flash. Although I may sound knowledgeable sometimes, I'm only a jack-of-all-trades and a master of none. So if you wanna know something in detail, better find someone else or howstuffworks.com .

I had some thoughts sorted out today, somehow I found that when you narrow your thoughts on a certain issue and you break out of it, you get a better understanding of the whole picture. I do not know how to explain this but I certainly have experienced it during work. It has been a significant change for me and I certainly believe that to identify what I really want is better than what you are being told what you should want. Another important thing is to use your own eyes to see and use your own judgement to look upon the matter. Rumour and talk both are intangible.

My life is how I choose it to be. I try to keep people happy. I do not go head-on into a worthless confrontation. I am not obliged to keep people happy. I know what I want and I have many weaknesses. I can choose to be manipulated but don't ever treat it as if I'm just a silly clown who doesn't know the situation. It was all an experiment to understand the layout and boundaries of this picture.

When the tides recede and the storms blow over, everything is clear. White is white, black is black, however in between is a vast mass of confused black and white particles still finding their own identity. Its your own choice to move away from the middle, to the extreme white, or the extreme black, you can even choose to live in the mess if you like it.

As for me, I am just a traveller. I started my journey before the picture - into the black, through the gray and ascending to the white. My walk across this picture will end, but my journey has only just began.

Finally ask yourself this question. If you had a choice, would you want to be the white particle in the black, or a absolute black within the white, or just a particle revolving in the turmoil right in the heart of the picture. Would you want to be a particle able to change colour anytime you want?

My answer is already very clear. For I have already chosen my path in the picture. The picture is just the beginning of a series of pictures I would trek along in my journey.

Today is an uneventful day, quite routine. Morning I was taught a couple of chapters and after lunch went and tagged along for some practical stuffs.

Came home and played an hour of cs (yeah I'm still playing), but mainly just for the fun of playing with online buddies. I'll seldom play alone.

Right now I had just finished practising guitar. Hard part about guitar right now is trying to play bar-chords correctly without muting the higher notes and making that buzzing sound. Secondly it was learning to strum up. All along I strummed up with my thumb until last week my guitar coach showed the class the proper way to strum up. We were also advised to keep our right index nail a little longer so we could strum up. The teenagers in the class were promised to be given a letter to allow them to keep nails from yamaha to their respective schools, lol. Then me how? Can write letter to my RSM or not? Ha. But anyway its a small matter. Air force not that regimental like infantry anyway.
Looking forward to Desaru on labour day. Heard from my mum we were going to spend the night in the kelong, bbq-ing while the folks play mahjong, etc. I'm just interested in taking some spectacular shots of maybe sunset and sunrise and maybe thinking of bringing a cheap portable fishing rod there to try and catch something out of the sea.
I always like the idea of travelling, so I'm damn looking forward to this mini-holiday, and the delicious seafood in store.

A stroke of inspiration

Being on course is not a bad thing after all. At least I'm doing a different thing during office hours instead of routine stuff. However its a routine out of another routine, which can lead to boredom. As a Sagittarian, I always like to do things to keep myself occupied to shift my focus away from boredom. So I picked up a pen and started drawing on paper for no apparent reason. Here's what I came up with after about 45 minutes.

I did this one first. I'm not an artist, however I sometimes imagine I am one and play with my imagination and what little I know about perspectives.

This next one I was imagining some funny idea about army. So here it is... looks lame but lameness is supposed to be part of the fun.

After I was done, and it was finally time for lunch. Back after lunch, decided to learn some simple Japanese conversation from an e-book I downloaded and printed last week. I tried to write down the English spelling of the Japanese words and tried to intepret without referring back to the book. Kinda worked a little, because I did manage to learn a few conversational sentences.

I got bored again and finally the rest of the afternoon was spent staring out of the window. And once again it got me thinking, how do mynahs spend their day? I was staring out the window and trying to understand, with their limited brain capacity, how do they know what they want to do in the course of the whole day. Well at that moment they were just diving into a drain and some sort like bathing in the water that was collected in the drain. Kinda intrigued me as I watched them hop around aimlessly and promptly flew off probably in search of food. As this was going on, an iguana crawled stealthily across the seemingly trimmed grass and perched onto a low metal rod protruding from the ground. Probably it was time for its suntan and there I wondered how long before its cold-blooded haemoglobins would heat up and turn it active again, before I knew it, the reptile had already gotten out of my sight and off to yet another of its conquests.

And as I idled along it was finally time to go home, the good thing on course was that I did not have to attend EODD, that is the End-Of-Day-Debrief that was mandatory for all squadron personnel everyday for information exchange from superiors. Reason being I was temporarily under the charge of OLTC and the dismissal time was at 5pm, way before the time for EODD and on some occasions, EODD does drag on much longer than usual due to the amount of instructions or information to be disseminated. But not today, today I'm going be home early, as I trodded off happily along towards Omega Gate and out of the base.

Let's call it quits.

Yah Right. You can't quit NS you dope. Yeah whatever... the system is getting bad from worse. Super-Superiors giving the men's direct superiors last minute orders pressurizing our direct superiors to meet deadlines end up the men gotta help share the workload. The thing about military issues is that everything is done with an urgency. And its a freaking paranoid sense of urgency that makes everyone panic, especially with the check and balances involved that could reduce those regulars bonus.. And those that didn't sign-on are being brainwashed with the fact that they suck thumb have to do it.

Its really screwed up system. But logically speaking it does have to make sense somehow. The reputation goes up, outsiders are having their thoughts enforced into believing its profitable in the little island. And whatever the people in the system do which is not aligned to that vision, and adhering to the organisation's check and balances are punished, if not punished severely for the littlest of mistakes. Feels like a communist state inside a somewhat democratic country ain't it. Welcome to the Slavetrix. Slaves of the systems. Ha Ha.

Yesterday I made a trip down to borders with a friend. I have always enjoyed going to bookstores to buy books or simply to browse. I was looking out for Jason Hahn's book but i merely scooted past the shelves and forgot all about it. I headed straight for the astrology section, I've been quite particularly interested in astrology recently and it kinda gives an insight to different characters of people of the different zodiac signs, I found that when I read about my sign, i somehow felt that about 80% of what it said about my character was true, in a general way. Its quite exciting to know that people are connected to the universe in such a profound way, and really makes me wonder about the connection between the universe and everything around us.
Another book that particularly caught my eye was a book on whaddya call it.. ya body language. The book provides some information about how a person is thinking from the way he acts, I find it would be useful to know such things, I guess I'll buy it another time.
Later we set off for lunch and returned back to Tampines for a movie, surprisingly the theatre was quite empty when we watched "Hostage". Its just a normal action movie, I'll give it three popcorns out of five.

Ok and for today It was so satisfying to see the reaction of the people watching the video I found off the net for a presentation. They were videos about car accidents, but despite the minor glitches, the whole presention went well. After that the day was pretty uneventful while the gloomy sky continued to rain on us throughout the day, everyone just wanted EODD to start and prepare to go home. Heh. So was I.

Naruto fever!

I had not watched naruto for quite some time and since I had downloaded up till episode 128 yesterday. i watched naruto all the way from 11am to 4pm yesterday(episodes 113-126) and when episode 127-128 were complete, continued to watch during the night. Probably it will be quite some time till I watch naruto again, coz I really really prefer to watch 1 shot many episodes than to watch a single episode and wait another week, its too painful. But argh!!! I stopped at where naruto and sasuke were just about to fight!! damn it!

And i finally got my mirc program to work with the system info addon, but it took me a while to import the settings over, but thats fine. I don't care about mirc anyway, I just wanna get things right. Thats just me.
